Located in beautiful Orange County, California lies the historic town of San Juan Capistrano. A friendly pedestrian town filled with grace and charm, the history dates back to 1776 when Father Junipero Serra founded the “Jewel of the Missions”, Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Nestled in the heart of this quaint town, the Mission is the birthplace of Orange County. Today it is a monument to California's multi-cultural history, embracing its Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European heritages.
The oldest neighborhood in California, The Los Rios District, is located just across the train tracks from the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The handful of original homes still standing include three adobe structures from the Montanez, Rios and Silva family homes, dating back to the 1800’s. After a refreshment at The Tea House or a hearty meal at the Ramos House Cafe, you can enjoy a walk down this picturesque street before boarding the train to continue your journey.
Directions
Take the 5 Freeway to the ORTEGA HWY exit, and head WEST towards The Mission. Make a RIGHT on CAMINO CAPISTRANO. Go approximately 3 blocks, just past the Mission, Basilica, and tennis courts. Look on the WEST side of the street, just past El Maguay Mexican Restaurant. Street parking available along Camino Capistrano.
From the North
- Take I-5 Fwy South to the CA-74/ORTEGA HWY exit towards SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO.
- Turn RIGHT onto ORTEGA HWY.
- Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CAMINO CAPISTRANO.
- The Villa will be on the LEFT side of the street just past the Mission San Juan Capistrano on the right.
From the South
- Take I-5 Fwy North to the CA-74/ORTEGA HWY exit towards SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO.
- Turn LEFT onto ORTEGA HWY.
- Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CAMINO CAPISTRANO.
- The Villa will be on the LEFT side of the street just past the Mission San Juan Capistrano on the right.
From the Beach
- From PACIFIC COAST HWY (Hwy US-1) in DANA POINT, take DEL OBISPO STREET to CAMINO CAPISTRANO.
- Turn LEFT onto CAMINO CAPISTRANO.
- The Villa will be on the LEFT side of the street just past the Mission San Juan Capistrano on the right.
